Primavera Training Training Courses

  TRAINING COURSES

Eastwood Harris offers the following courses using Eastwood Harris training manuals.:

  • Primavera SureTrak - One two day course.
  • Primavera P3 Version 3.1 - Three day training courses and/or workshops for advanced users.
  • Primavera Enterprise Versions 5.0 and 6.0 (P5 and P6) - Three day courses and/or workshops for advanced users.
  • Primavera Contractor - Two day courses.
  • Microsoft Project 2000/2002/2003/2007 - Two day courses.
  • PRINCE2 & Microsoft Project 2007, 2003, 2002 or 2000 - Two day courses.
  • Microsoft Project 2007, 2003, 2002 or 2000 PMBOK® Guide Third Edition - Two day courses.
  • Eastwood Harris also offers One to One Personal Training which is a cost effective method of getting you staff up and going quickly. The SureTrak and Microsoft Project course is condensed into one day and the P3, P5 and P6 courses are compressed into two days and the training course costs are then less than sending the person on an open course.
  • Principles of Planning - a one day course that teaches students how to plan a project. This course is ideal to teach students about planning before completing a software course.

      TRAINING COURSE PHILOSOPHY

Eastwood Harris teaches students to plan projects using the software and not just how to use the menus.

The SureTrak and Microsoft training is delivered in two one day sessions and the P3, P5 and P6 in three one day sessions. The courses ideally should be run with 4 to 6 students, with a recommended maximum of 8.

By the end of the first day the students will gain sufficient skills to create, status and print a project using the software without resources or costs. The first day may be sufficient for casual users to create a schedule or gain an understanding of the software functionality.

At the end of the second day the student will gain skills necessary to understand the resources and costs features of the software.

The third day of the P3, P5 and P6 course covers the advanced features of the software including administration.

Tailoring the Training Material to Suit Your Organisation

It is suggested that "Standard Project Templates and Scheduling Procedures" could be written to suit your company's method of working. These templates and procedures would be acknowledged in the course and the student exercises would be examples from your current projects. The course would therefore be more relevant to the students than standard software vendor exercises. In addition we could develop a method of transferring data from and to your other project management systems .

These process could be documented and included in a tailored version of the appropriate manual. Therefore the training manual could be edited to suit your organisation and could include your methodology and become a training and procedure manual.

      Alternatives for Training Delivery

The training courses are designed to be delivered as 2 day or 3 day courses where the students complete workshops ate the end of each chapter.

The courses may also be run as:

  • A one day introductory course where the students complete Day 1 of the training and learn to plan but not control a project and complete the student workshops.
  • A one day workshop where the whole content of the course is covered in one day. The students do not complete the workshops and any questions or issues the students have are explored during the course. This is a great way to bring self taught and casual users up to speed with some of the more difficult areas of the software.
  • The three day P3, P5 and P6 courses may also be shortened to two day courses by omitting material.

      Training Material

The training material consists of a training manual that the student keeps as a reference manual and includes tutorials that are completed during the class.

The tutorials could be tailored to suit your organisation and be examples of your current work.
